KAMUZU CUP FINAL MATCH OF 2ND JUNE 1984.

palianic2011

This is one of the best cup finals ever played at Kamuzu Stadium.

This game was won by Berec Power Pack 3-2 .

It was a debut match for Berec Power Pack’s teenager and midfield maestro Brian Malowe Ndau who came in as substitute for the legendary Clifton Msiya who had limped off the pitch due to a recurring injury he sustained in March 1984 at the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast where he netted a goal of the tournament against Nigeria .

At the time Brian Malowe Ndau was getting into the game, CIVO was leading 2-0 .

He changed the game dramatically.

No surprise that the award of the player of the match went to none other than Brian Malowe Ndau himself.

From that day, Brian Malowe Ndau secured himself a permanent space in the starting line up of Berec Power Pack until he retired from the team (then called MDC United) and active soccer almost 20 years later.

Brian Ndau is probably the only player in Malawi to have played for the same Super League side for almost 20 years.

Other soccer historians like Inno Chanza have likened him to Manichester United’s former player Ryan Giggs as far as one’s loyalty to a country’s top league club is concerned.
