WAS ZIMBABWE GOVERNMENT NOT AN ACCOMPLICE IN THE ASSASSINATION OF DR. ATTATI MPAKATI?

According to sources from within LESOMA, Dr. Attati Mpakati had flown into Harare on 23 March 1983. It is reported that he was on a mission to Harare to meet with Prime Minister Robert Mugabe at the statehouse.

According to the sources within the rank and file of LESOMA, Dr Kamuzu Banda assailants nabbed Dr. Attati Mpakati upon arrival in Harare, shot him dead, threw his dead body in a ditch next to Parklane Hotel in Harare.

A million Kwacha question is:

How was it possible for Dr. Kamuzu Banda's assailants to sneak through Zimbabwe, abduct a VIP guest for Prime Minister Robert Mugabe who was on his way from the airport, shot him dead, dump him right in the CBD of Harare and manage to flee without any trace?

Winstone Msowoya (2012) sheds some hints in his book _The Legacy of Tyranny and Shame._

*Winstone Msowoya* fled Malawi on 19 October 1964 in the wake of the cabinet crisis of 1964. He was a Marxist who studied journalism in Moscow and further did military training in Cuba.

He later joined Orton Chirwa's Malawi Freedom Movement (MAFREMO) party and relocated to Zimbabwe in 1980 where he was conducting MAFREMO operations. He now lives in Canada.

In his book, Winstone Msowoya reveals that in 1983, ZANU PF was scheduled to hold its first-party convention after independence which had a huge budget. Dr. Kamuzu Banda pledged to donate USD 3 million to ZANU PF for the event and related activities.

In return, Zimbabwe Government allowed Malawi's special branch agents to enter Zimbabwe "to work with Mugabe's notorious secret police to track down Malawian exiles in Zimbabwe who were opposing Dr. Kamuzu Banda's regime...Many Malawian exiles in Zimbabwe were duly deported, others including myself, were detained under inhumane conditions" (page 244).

It was around the same time that Dr. Attati Mpakati was assassinated in Harare. At this time, Mugabe's minister responsible for state intelligence and internal security was none other than Emmerson Mnangagwa who is the current head of state of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Not long after that MAFREMO leader *Dr. Edward Yaphwantha* (He had taken over the leadership of MAFREMO following the arrest and conviction of Orton Chirwa in Malawi) was arrestedand deported from Zimbabwe. That is according to Wistone Msowoya's book.

With this new information, should allegations that the Zimbabwe Government was an accomplice in the assassination of Dr. Attati Mpakati be trashed?
